The Norwegian Blacksmiths Association and Næs Iron Works Museum will be arranging the 11th annual forge-in at Næs on the 3rd and 4th of July. Næs Iron Works Museum (http://www.jernverksmuseet.no) is situated 2 km from the E-18 near Tvedestrand. It is Norway’s best preserved iron works. Many of the old production buildings are preserved in an idyllic setting by the river next to a 19th century park. This year’s event is the 11th and we are expecting professional and hobby blacksmiths from Norway and abroad. You can work on your own material or together with the other blacksmiths on the common project. The museum is open both Saturday and Sunday and the public get to see the smiths in action and have the opportunity of forging themselves with your help if you wish. Arrival is either Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning. The forges are lit at 10 am each day after breakfast. Packing up and departure is at 4 pm on Sunday. On Sunday there will be a concert by experienced percussionists http://gdankbonk.com. The common project is therefore: make something that they can use at the concert. Basic accommodation and food is provided, but there is a small charge. Family members welcome.
